What are Stocks?

While stock trading is hugely popular among traders, the high capital requirements and low leverage on offer from stockbrokers can be prohibitive to many traders. This increased capital requirement has prompted the rise in popularity of Stock CFD trading (Contracts for Difference).

A contract for difference, or CFD, doesn’t involve the physical ownership of Apple Stock, for example. Stock CFDs are simply an agreement between a Buyer and a Seller to exchange the difference in the price of Apple stock at a given time.

When can I trade stocks?

Regular trading hours for the US stock markets, including Nasdaq and the NYSE, are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays. Stock markets close for certain holidays, such as Christmas and the New Year. On early closure days (which are usually just before or after a holiday), the stock markets close at 1 p.m. (also Eastern time). Trading before or after regular trading sessions is also possible if you are trading via ECN.

Can I use limit buy or limit sell orders?

In addition to analytical tools you can use to build your ideal trading strategy, our trading platforms allow clients to input limit buy and limit sell orders to help manage their open positions.
